I read the book before it was out so I have to admit that I was disappointed. It's not that I'm always disappointed in films based on books, but this one was so clearly a great book that the film couldn't compete with it.

Plot Summary:
When her mother disappears, Clary Fray learns that she descends from a line of warriors who protect our world from demons. She joins forces with others like her and heads into a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld.
The Stars:
I don't think I disagree too much with the stars at all. Yes, I imagined Clary as a red head but Lily Collins performs it well. Jamie Campbell Bower is an excellent actor in my point of view. I loved him in 'Anonymous' and we did get a glimpse of him in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. I think Robert Sheehan managed to portray Simon really well as the boy with a crush on his best friend. I was critical towards Jemima West as Isabelle and Kevin Zegers as Alec to begin with, but learnt to accept it. It wasn't too bad. It took me longer to accept Godfrey Gao as Magnus Bane, but when I saw the film I saw that he was in fact quite good. What I don't understand though, is that Valentine and Hodge are supposed to be the same age but Valentiene (Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who's in the Tudors btw, just saying) is in his thirties and Hodge (Jared Harries) is in his fifties. How does that even make sense!!!!???? Lena Headey (Jocelyn) is a Game of Thrones star though so <3!!
My Rating:
7/10
The ending was so different from the book that I barely understood a thing. Major let down.
